" War Was Constant "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

War was constant
preferable to dishonor
in suits of armor
as brutal phenomenons
with detachable parts
eavesdropping
staples of horror
balding bouffant
vaguely alarming
bathed in orange
lowly downtrodden
friends of the obviously
unpopular newly-cobbled
not-for-profit scholarly
demolished decorative arts
as family coats of arms
carved on facades
of improminence
hot and smelly
secretly cherished
involuntarily messy
ending up
obsessively having sex
steeling away
into misty morning rains
left in place on picnic tables
for gangsters satiated
by wedding cake
cigarettes and bouquets
on short breaks
with hands raised...
