for decades
needing updating
carpeting is stained
limited cabinet space
north facing
finished basements
don't cooperate
deemed baseless
shooting for the moon
by letting air out
of a balloon
in a buying mood
as pre-approved
consumers
being buoyed
anonymously
and easily
while laundering
dirty money
pre-rinse, wash and spin
in resistance
to the digital spills
of astringent fiscal conditions
like ceremonial first pitches
while clinging to traditions
with over-sized catcher's mitts
squatting with hi-tech chest
protectors and helmets
of tar and resin
a wind up, a hit
and a miss
caught swinging
as absurd purists
backflip
for sponsorships
showing no hints
of pit-bull
tendencies
thick-headed
athletically
as a string of litanies
looping cartwheels
strung out beneath
reaming bleachers...
