" Nominally Present "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

Taking the helm
drifting upended
in claret-colored velvet
nominally present
full-metal digital relics
as inaccessible potential threats
of the venerably effortless
comedies of errors
preventable as unmentionables
ludicrously a little ahead
of near echoes testing
the limits of an offense
gone too far arbitrarily blocked
by wonky barroom clods
like plodding homebodies
amid bits of formidable domesticity
almost unbearably
rotating on one leg
even more precariously
flipping switches
into "on" and "off" positions
while whispering vigorously
as fingers slip and smoke billows
flapping unanchored
caution tapes
with brassy cadences
and cool gazes
occasionally deactivated
by carafes of vodka
in synopses of folly...
