" Wings and Flight "

Wings and flight
taken to the air
enemies evaded
found food and mates
in far greater ranges
while basking
in the sun
with the sticky
silk of whip
spiders while waiting
for prey and daddy-long-legs
guarding eggs
in brood chambers
like liquified remains
determined by leg lengths
closely related
to a damp place
through gates
of dark isolation
being freed
of egg cases
only empty
shells remain
from flight displays
elongating
body shapes
salutations
gregarious
conversations
whirling blades
a raucous,
" Kaka-week!
Kaka-week! "
rarely on beaches
narrow dull red
yellow rings
unreliable
hard to see
sooty slaty vagaries
of Mother Nature
and Father Time
wings and flight...
