As Paths Split

" As Paths Split "

by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

As paths split off linchpins
of shaped interests
sharply shifting

uneven sparse
parted and toothed
chewed or gargled roots

poulticed for bruises
coughs and hoarseness
smothered in decorum
and dainty florals

encasing gargoyles with trade offs
of nifty bits pithily stinted
by mint chocolates on silk pillows
as harnessed plot twists

ingenuously dystopian
void of hocus-pocus
whole-heartedly untold

painfully of late
salaciously infiltrated
feeling violated

reading refrains
of, "Be Not Afraid!"
traced across pasted
scratch-and-sniff wallpaper

as flash points
for home-made eye candy
beating feet to the floor
like fists of creative origin...
