desolate draggy half numb
from, "would'a, could'a, should'as"

becoming yellow bellied
brown chinned and black masked
across brushy areas of prairie lands

under sides of tails
becoming red banded
shortly thereafter

like a high-statured chant
of "dooby dooby do
do do do dee da
da da da da da"

getting somewhat floppy
after feeding on carcasses
dark barrings tails bobbing

like solitary monogamous showstoppers from modern
mythology's obligatory fleshpots

repeating heartily
the Independence Day mantra
under rockets red glare:
