turning away
from the past
twisting the dagger
away from the straight-
and narrow
forward ranging
from the soberly
overly devoted
debatable features
of a droopy face
in an old-time hangout
for recording labels
staking out
yowling characters
staged as updated
unsustainable
flaws on stage
while bands play
with the sophistication
of a wide-eyed betrayal
as heartbreakers
map out their aims
through improvisation
demonstrated
by the reverberant
clues of the day
contained like infatuations
headlined during viper-
tongued isolation
and the appalling behavior
of flirting shamelessly
with no one to blame--
" A kangaroo
has how many legs?! "...
