Mom Suzán
It takes some planning
when ordered
to wear khakis daily
as nuclear families
become immersed
in the pressing tasks
of wearing store-
bought cotton pants
falling short
facing off
in squared off
photographs
posted with the hopes
of convening
during three square meals
ritualistically querying,
"So, how was your day?"
shouting, "Say cheese!"
and "Spaghetti!" then yelling, "Come and Get It!"
using your best
etiquette
donning garish
wash-and-wear
generous synthetic
silhouettes
of camouflage-pattern
tent dresses
over permanent-pressed
khaki slacks with stretched-
out bands in direct
violation of high-waisted
fashion plates...
