" In Visible Decay "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-
Mom Suzán
In visible decay
sharp shoulders
jutting chins
replicated serviceably
lacking reasons for being
feeling flimsy
yet increasingly quaint
and far-less intimidating
like high-pitched twangs
from a hootenanny's golden age
transcended gracefully
by the thingamajigs
and whatchamacallits
morphing into remastered songs
amounting to much much more
jarringly jaunty eagerly performed
lying in store
drawn-up lists
of probabilities
as shoo-ins
live and on stage
undertaking
staggering
best-case
scenarios
while belting out
hit parades
spaced out
over decades
of estrangement
running in place
remaining
in limbo
perspiring greatly
fallaciously
preordained
crackling with rage...
