as marginal markings
of paler diagonal slashes
on spotted backs
at half-past digital fracking
paddling animals
laid out in dank cavities
smooth and hairless
flat expanses
netlike patterning
backward glances
as satellite mapping
surveillance tactics
aiming to steer clear
of graffitied owl-like
sides of buildings
perched high
yellow-eyed
preferring to hide
at close range
in thick brushy tangles
with added breathing spaces
at upper ranges
across stony layered remains...
