"When the Walls
Came Down
Haiku Series"
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

When the walls came down
about the picnic blanket
banging the gavel
gamboling puppies
big box blowing B.T.U.'s
pushing boundaries
laced with politics
culture critics wading in
fedoras titled
white suit, straw boater
vaudeville to scatology
before dropping out
seeking out the soul
poetically loaded
urban tenements
speaking for themselves
ostensibly objective
intellectuals
left-leaning outcasts
untainted by the fancy
veiled by past feelings
just-the-facts plainness
mysteriously gripping
vintage lingerie
being reinforced
beginning with the author
naked down the street
damaged innocents
possessed of queasy stomachs
little utterance
wonder what went wrong
laugh aloud or cry uncle
psychics' Ouija boards
ruthlessly honest
tending not to show, bit tell
acute awkwardness...
