Triage on the Streets Haiku Series

" Triage on the Streets Haiku Series "

Smoother roomier
treasures rescued from the sea
weathering the tide

vertebrate species
gleaming isolated isle
succulent lupine

trout stream wild steelhead
strung out interstate highways
halting urban sprawl

unspoken distress
moving farther and farther
folks in trophy homes

gold ring rosaries
sick of vehicular life
picking off stragglers

headed haplessly
as a hero in a cast
imprisoned last ditch

storm warnings ahead
amounts of plunder present
ringed by high dark cliffs

busy in summer
unshakable convictions
disgorged day-trippers

a few notches up
fish for lobster in winter
silent when need be

unlikely partners
services dwindle blight spreads
harsh forces curbed quests

over 50 dead
mass shootings of protesters
injected frenzy

off-the-shelf software
no peace yet, starting stampedes
filling out rosters

coaxing opponents
determined to keep focus
decades-old tactics

tepid inquiries
conspicuously condemned
cells and guard towers

knee-jerk injustice
turncoats opening fire
triage on the streets...
