" Ending Up Beneath the Knee "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

Bolstering a theory
while packing
for a phantom
camping trip
sunbathing
eating meals
in matching
platinum wigs
driving down
perfectly fine
twisty highways
gearing up
to backing up
into pop-up
campers
slathering
naughtily
serene
sunscreen
onto alter egos
ending up
beneath the knee
like quintessentially
short-term memory
tellingly as tests
of intolerance
held incommunicado
during unstoppable marches
with claims of wanting
while keeping the lights on
by seizing upon equally targeted
retrofitted dollars as mystical manna
celebrating impassive intensity
ho-humming heavily
with no loss of vivacity
visited weekly
no doubt masking
a world passing
without a good night out
soaring up and across
six stories
few branches
and no leaves
of bronzed trees
sooty to garishly flickery
getting too big for skittery
artist colonies in teasingly
promising googly eyed dioramas
as scribbly hurkey-burleys
drawn firmly against whimsically
whirl-like indie filmings...
