called safe, once sacrosanct games
baseball doggerel
tailgated throwbacks
bowlegged and shovel handed
launched bottles from fans
emptying dugouts
disputed umpire calls
cagey padded masks
called out, caught fowl balls
colliding with the scoreboard
sticking mitts skyward
earmarkings on cards
pin-striping, exhausted hearts
dropping like birds shot
spit ephemera
batting cleanup at the plate
crazed stadium waves...
