" So Pronounced "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-
Mom Suzán
So pronounced
as unsuccessful battles
in a clearinghouse
of beige boxes in a closet
for stolen property
like remarkable memoirs
of the impossible
as pursuits of bruised art
in catastrophic
burned-out hospitals
for the prized bronzes
of the impoverished
involuntarily expecting to crest
while lifting wolf protections
when nickel fetches public comments
well over forgotten authentic suspects
running from debts of the influential
taught to play melodies
to keep it that way
by appearing on radio
as instrument makers
carried off stage
vocal tracks later
back to cocaine
after changing labels
like elder statesmen
changing cassette tapes
nearly every day
in narrow inaccessible places...
