In an about-face
a face off
of lost rawness

turned off
in a stand up
of work
as yet to be done

during flurries
of re-construction
after being gutted
as comeuppance
for losing face

while standing
at the ready
post nip and tuck
plus double eye lids
of a once-popular culture

facing V-shapes
and punch lines
voiding stereotypes
like liposuction
and fat grafts

being left in stitches
from a face lift
feeling crestfallen
reading mean-
spirited comic strips

as unfulfilled
as wish lists
becoming
bucket lists
versus to-do lists

given a lascivious
wink-wink
replete with crow's
feet
spreading apocalyptically...
