" All Fairy Tale and Filigree "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

All fairy tale
and filigree
indulge me
running fingers
reflexively
yet frettingly
over the length
of a hem
contagiously
fist pumping
with strangers
wearing pear-
shaped solitaires
on gold bands
on the second finger
of their left hands
bodies encased
in spandex
after hitting
the racks
in anticipation
of marriage
being staged
at a craft fair
betrothed
arriving
in a glinting
stretch limousine
neon hubcaps
a-gleamin'
woofers a-thumpin'
in speakers
as maids of honor
march in high-heeled
sneakers and best men
step in patent leather
loving trudging
through accumulating
fake snow flakes
while jingling
jangly bracelets
upon entering into a pop-
up chapel space
past newly tuck-pointed
brick-and-mortar walls
heads veiled in crinoline
waists circumferenced
by cummerbunds
open to the public...
