" Right on the Surface "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

Right on the surface
keeping it breezy
minimalistically
almost wholly
overblown
by emotion
in runaway hits
slightly less
farfetched
as founders
of festivals
for elders
and ancestors
in deep appreciation
of aging and death
far from mournful
when given voice
long drawn before
unapplauding audiences
coming to fruition
with looping repeats
over the seasons
endearingly out of sequence
experiencing weaknesses
of bedraggled fantasies
being played down
gone way out
of character
having been collected
as vignettes of muscle memory
out of context rasping and hollering
during doddering monologues
together then apart
engaging to watch
like rhapsodic throngs
pulse poundingly
preposterous
piercingly harmonic
plaintively melodic
bravely unresolved...
