" Far-Flung Hokum "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-
Mom Suzán
Milling around an unruly house
of middlebrows as throwbacks
to lackluster humbug
poster subjects in small numbers
of disco funk with unaccompaniments
undercut by unsung lady bugs
still lining up with fingers on the pulse
of the cunningly ho-hum
covered up with far-flung hokum unbecomingly debunked
by humdrum from down under
undoing something percussive
undeserving of a sendup
for a maudlin trumpeter
on taut drums buffed up
by a rumba of aye carumba
cranked up in reruns
of the just as funnily
unvulnerable like one
no trump with an ace club
being lead from the dummy
hair spiked up in a toss up
without much fun after trying to recover
from a fully-loaded shotgun
of sordid love already abducted
without a struggle after caddying
for a long summer as a curmudgeon
lugging titanium clubs...
