The larks have become silent
as swallows glide tufted titmice
simultaneously cry, " peter peter peter peter upon visiting
bird feeders while mixing in
with flocking chickadees
seeking insects and seeds
featuring windy twigs
best seen leafless
revealing scars of previous
seasons glossy dormancy
dropping off due to water loss
high-born party crawlers
cover stories turbulent wars
as almost obligatory
like tarot cards and crystal balls
being staged in grand opera
performances by a mellifluous
populous contiguous sun up...
