Strummed and Plucked

" Strummed and Plucked "

by Suzán Jiván, Mom
& Mom-Mom Suzán

Hugely important
over the long haul
as the hammer falls
on the new normal
no cameras no coughing
in substandard protocols

like rolling a boulder uphill
while syncopating open fifths
with miniature harmony shifts
of grinding rhythms

strummed and plucked
as fully adult newcomers
reinterpreting rock classics
in concert-ending jams

getting harder and harder
huddled up in parkas
of problem-solving bravado
as artifices of armor
unconsciously playing parts
of tidy ironies
while feeling at ease...
