epic legends depicted
tending to be limited
by iconography
endlessly repeated in reliefs
seen frontally feet in profile
winged bulls with men's heads
carved from single blocks
one foot on an axel bar
seemingly invincible
provincial in character
long afterwards
curving lances
and round shields
friezes running beneath eaves
as guardian spirits
becoming capable of crushing
hostile visitors
whatever the angle may be
diligently raised
to didactic planes...
