" Not Unremarkable "
by Suzán Jiván, Mom

Not unremarkable
undocumented
entire populations
dangerously endangered
as lemon meringue
real estate
in solo shows
of bodies
on our own
truly astonishing
as inter-related
and re-embraced
unvisited places
like empty neighborhoods
bearing false names
spanning decades
fallen into decay
collectively
domesticated
by implication
instructively
fascinating
like an over-
loaded pancreas
seemingly natural
in isolation on stage
while probing
the corners of our brains
dark-room generated
gas-infused tubes
of patina'd beauty
in tureens
of bayoneted enemies
thriving briefly
suffering irreparably
as filigreed surface reliefs
with cackling glee
after the burbling brutality
of forgeries unnervingly
lost in infancy
as black-chalk drawings
dashed off
on a reddish shore...
