" Could Be Repurposed "
for My Papa
on his 84th BDay
by Suzán Jiván, Mom
& Mom-Mom Suzán
Could be repurposed
as a poignant memorial
like a stained-glass portrait
installed in a velvety
crimson window
surviving religious depictions
worth visiting while catching fish
from a flagship of fatuous pleas
remarking on the differences
between snaggers of salmon
and the leader of the pack
as fiddle-faddle on dry land
wearing sweater letters
in winter weather
down the wine list section
bent on a bender
of formal defenses
for household helpers
in a tussle over whether
elegance can be measured
like demented truth-telling
with the pretense
of a new head
glued back together again
by discrepant potential
as relics still desperate
teeth gone, hurried on
looking harsh...
