while cringing in the back seat
of a late-date cabriolet



heeding the day
when vampish ladies
and peg-legged
men sail away
with the piratical
practices of avaricious
cliff-dwelling passerines




while night-time bicycle lights strobe brightly as handle-bar-mounted
carillons clamorously hammer home lauded canonical nocturnes



lending airs of urgency
like flying fur
as ravenous versions
of preying raptors
in strict observance
of mattins...
