Steeply Raked

" Steeply Raked "

by Suzán Jiván, Mom

Diametrically tricky seasons
hollowed-out like tympanic mallets
with the feel and balance
of a bamboo handle

hailed
in a steeply raked
cube of a haul
while lying along
sand-swept shores
for broadcast

playing hauntingly
for audiences
on a granular core
of the unavoidable

sounding
rather mechanical
cutting teeth
by focusing
in on demeanor
minus instinct

ceding to acidity
for the residually quick
after a climatic cataclysm...
