as droppings
of fly larva

Beneath canopies of trees
where caterpillars feed
on arrow-shaped leaves
dusted with pollen
knobbed and barbed
with yellow markings

While basking on bracken
and jousting with sap
along canyons
of variable tan
in hackberry
plants...
